Dialogue without words
In our travels, we have had the opportunity to interact with people from many countries, from different backgrounds and cultures. When the words did not make the conversation possible, a smile intervened. Broad and sincere. Sometimes I caught them discreetly, out of the corner of my eye, other times they wanted to be part of the story. Ours, but also theirs. We rarely remember names, but faces are present in the heart and in albums.
We never felt alone, there was always someone around and every interaction added depth to our experiences. In some places people picked up the destination, in others, there were interesting characters, pieces in a puzzle called Life. If a photo is worth a thousand words, it depends on the photographer. If what we have lived and will live is far beyond what we can capture in an image, it depends only on us and, I strongly believe, on the Divinity.
Here are some tips if you want to venture on a vacation on your own overseas.
Are you about to go on a trip, but don't know the language of the country in question? Don't panic!
In most countries, the basics of English will be useful. Like it or not, English is the international language that unties languages. So, you have to ask yourself how you speak English. And if you're not confident in this regard, there's no reason to stress. All countries of the world share a universal language, so use your body to make yourself understood. You know that Italians, for example, are famous for talking with their hands. In some countries, it is very important to get acquainted with the customs of the place. For example, Asians greet by bowing in respect. It would be nice if you could buy a pocket dictionary or a conversation guide before you travel. This will allow you to deal with everyday situations - on the road, at the accommodation, in restaurants. If you find the pronunciation of the words difficult, you can show it to the other person. If my suggestion seems a bit vintage, you can take advantage of your smartphone to communicate. I know, you need the net! Once you have reached your destination, the first thing we advise you to do is to purchase a SIM card. So, with a carrier and a sense of adventure, you can get instant translations and routes through many applications.
Do you know any other tips to be able to communicate abroad without mastering the language of the country?
