How we came to find the perfect accommodation in Bali

The Balinese house in the middle of the rice field was the ideal place for the perfect vacation. A sign on the main street, which you could easily overlook, paved the way for what Neyang would mean: Silence. So much silence that you could hear your thoughts. And rice. Everywhere. When we chose this accommodation, we looked for a place away from the crowds, in the middle of nature, without other things that could have kept us in place. For us, Bali was the holiday of discoveries. Of ourselves, places, people.

That's how Neyang appeared. From the beginning, it attracted me like a magnet. Any other accommodation I would have found, my soul always returned me on the same page. And I was gonna find out why, in the end. Khan and Ayu, two wonderful people made our stay a memorable one.

Thanks to them we attended a traditional Balinese wedding. A whole world opened up to us and charmed us. Traditions preserved down to the smallest detail kept us breathless in an atmosphere full of the smell of incense sticks and flowers were strewn everywhere.

They also helped us to rent a scooter with which we did not less than 350 kilometres. If we had not rented our own means of transport, there would have been no problem. The hosts provide you with a free car, twice a day, with which you can get to Ubud in just 10 minutes. Moreover, in addition to information about the places you can visit, it also helps you with transportation to different destinations (for a fee).

The mornings at Neyang were perfect. The roosters were starting to sing and let you know that a new day was beginning. Slowly, slowly, a few silhouettes appeared. You could see them walking slowly through the rice fields. The movements were so delicate that you felt like they were floating in the sea of green in front of your eyes. You only startled when a coconut fell ardently. Too ripe. You were captivated by the hum and woke up to the smells, because you felt from a distance that Ayu was coming with a huge tray, loaded with everything, just to make you happy.

The evenings ended in the same way. Silence and spectacle. This time of fireflies. I can't describe their beauty enough. Every evening they filled the rice field and turned the darkness into a paradisiacal image. Soon the noises started and reminded you that there is a jungle around you.

The days passed and we prepared to leave. In the end, as if I felt I needed to find out something else, I asked Khan what Neyang meant. He answered me simply: GRANDMA. Then I understood! The complexity of the feelings and experiences in that magical place began to take on life and contour for me. For Khan, Neyang is more than a business. It is a desire to carry the memory forward. Grandma's, the one who worked hard to raise the money needed to buy the rice fields. So, far from being just accommodation in Bali, it's an emotion. An emotion that feels in the moment when you took the first step in NEYANG ( http://www.villaneyang.com/).
