Holiday on the Cote d'Azur: Villa Claudia Hotel Cannes - the place where modernism makes a good home with history

Holidays on the Cote d'Azur have already become a tradition. The only thing we changed, this year being "special", was to look for accommodation in which not to interact with many tourists. And, as the family business has or should have that distinctive note that gives you the feeling of "home", we chose Villa Claudia. In addition, you know that we like houses with stories, therefore, this could not be otherwise: it has 150 years of history. It was built in 1872 for one of the 4 children of the family of Louis Nouveau, a famous architect from Cannes. In the 30's it was transformed into a hotel - "Les Lauries Roses". After 1950 it appeared in travel guides as Hotel Vendome, a name it kept until 2016, when the current owner, Christophe, named it Hotel Villa Claudia.

What makes the hotel so special?

All public areas and rooms are tastefully decorated, and the small details bring an extra freshness in a building that “smells” of yesteryear.

The welcoming terrace, full of flowers and shaded by ivy, turned the mornings into real moments of pampering, while in the hot afternoons it was the perfect place to relax in the company of a good book and a coffee that you can serve without any additional cost throughout the day.

The surprise of this accommodation was the buffet breakfast, in which fresh and quality products (cheeses, cold cuts), cereals and fruits took place, along with the indispensable baguette and steaming croissant. So, the start of the perfect days.

You can reach many points of interest in Cannes in just a few minutes on foot:

The famous boulevard La Croisette, lined with restaurants and shops of luxury brands, is only 5 minutes, the Palais des Festivals, about 10 minutes, the old town-Le Suquet and the market Forville -Marché Forville (is open from Tuesday to Sunday, the days from Monday - between 7 and 17:30, being dedicated to the so-called Marché Brocante-flea market), is about 15 minutes, Gambetta Square -Place Gambetta, about 5 minutes (the market is open from Tuesday to Sunday)

A few steps from Rue d Antibes and only 4 minutes from the train station, in the heart of the city, but without feeling the crowds, Villa Claudia proved to be an inspired choice.

How did we feel?

Like home. The warmth with which we were greeted, the care of not missing anything, the constant attention from the owner and the employees, make us come back.

Good to know!

You can benefit from private parking (10 euro/day).

You can reach the beach in 5 minutes.
