Escape to Capri

Capri, city break or get away for a day ?! If you have chosen to spend a weekend in Naples or a vacation on the Amalfi coast, do not hesitate to go to Capri! The cozy mountain island of the Tyrrhenian Sea will welcome you in Marina Grande, the main port. From here you take the bus or the funicular. Climb. Some narrow, cobbled streets, some snaking through obscure passages, others charming, lined with luxury shops or shaded by bougainvillea, encompass a city that you can walk through.

You will start from Umberto Square, also called Piazzetta. Located in the historical center of the island, you can not miss it. Stunningly, with its wonderful dome, here is the clock tower. Around, the cafes. It's hard not to stop for an espresso. You decide whether you want to drink it on the run or relish it. Obviously, a pretext for socializing or observation. Yes, you can meet celebrities from the world of literature, film, art. With a little luck and fun you will be able to capture memorable snapshots.

Then, start along the boulevard lined with exclusive boutiques and luxury hotels, Vittorio Emanuelle, to Giardini di Augusto! Stop for a moment to breathe in the gardens!

Incredible views over the Tyrrhenian Sea will fascinate you. Of course, acknowledged Faraglioni, the rocks that rise from the sea. You saw them in all the presentations about Capri.

Cast your eyes on the mountain! You will discover Via Krupp, the serpentine road, clinging to the rocks that are about to collapse.

Look down! You will see Marina Piccola. If you like the idea of spending a day at the beach, you have found the right place. Protected from the wind, the bay is always warm.

Do you fancy the idea of hiking? Take the coastal path to Arco Naturale! Forming a natural arch, limestone formations are all that remains of a cave. Stop at the viewpoints and admire the boats that take tourists to Grotta Azzura!

Leave behind the cosmopolitan atmosphere of the city and start with the local bus to Anacapri! If not, the Phoenician steps, a long, steep stone staircase climbs close to Marina Grande port and ends near Axel Munthe's Villa San Michele. We preferred the bus. Quietly, the town welcomed us with limoncello, the famous lime liqueur of Capri and carried us through the streets among the shops hidden behind the embroidery and ceramic items. From here we climbed the chairlift to Monte Solaro, the highest point of the island.

Good to know!
